With a collection of vintage designer shoes that once exceeded 500 pairs, Bettye Muller is what you might call a connoisseur. However, she didn't always realize footwear was her specialty. Instead, the New York native spent her early years as a competitive ice skater and ice skating instructor, graphic designer, shoe model, and soap opera actress before she created her first small collection of shoes in the 1980s. In 1988, after designing for some of the world's most respected footwear labels, Bettye Muller launched her own line with a handful of styles.
Today, Bettye Muller's collection is informed by her love of luxurious fabrics as well as her experiences living abroad in Europe and her travels to the Far East and South America. In styles that range from '50s modern to the '20s and even earlier, Bettye Muller shoes are vivid, pretty and as colorful as the designer's own eclectic tastes. Inspired by vintage fabrics and intense colors such as Bordeaux, granny apple and tangerine, her collections create a sense of fantasy for women. Bettye Muller shoes have a look that is mysterious and beautiful.
Since they're unique, Bettye Muller shoes aren't for just anyone. Attracting celebrities and trend setters, the artist says that women who wear her pieces must have a great sense of self and a distinct style. "They're a statement, so the women who wear them must be very confident," Muller said.
Mirroring the designer's individuality, the beauty of her Italian-made pieces lies in the details: faux fur-lined interiors, vintage brocades, and vibrant beaded accents are just a few special touches that distinguish Bettye Muller footwear. "They're original, and I always want to keep them that way," Bettye explained. But no matter where Bettye Muller's design inspiration takes her, some things will remain consistent about her shoes: they will be sophisticated and feminine, stylish and fun, and always unexpected.

Bettye Muller CAPRICE
I'm usually a 7.5 or 38 but after a quick internet search decided to buy the 37 instead. Good idea. They fit perfectly. The foot bed isn't padded, so you may want to add a bit of comfort if your feet are especially sensitive, but I find them comfortable enough to brave mass transportation commuting and city walking. Beautiful shoes.
I'd also recommend: Dolce Vita, Betsey Johnson

I fell in love with these as soon as I saw them online, but was honestly a little disappointed with this shoe as soon as I opened the box. For the price, I was hoping to see a beautiful fabric with a sheen. The colors are definitely vibrant, but unfortunately they made this with a dull canvas. What I also thought was strange was that the foot bed and leather portion with the zipper is actually black...wouldn't it have been more appropriate in blue to match the sandal? It was actually a very comfortable sandal, but unfortunately the straps holding your ankle in place were way too loose, which made them impossible to walk in. Zappos was extremely great as usual, but these espadrilles are going back.
