Native New Yorker Marc Jacobs began his design career in 1981 when he attended Parsons School of Design. On the evening that Marc Jacobs was showing his senior collection and receiving some of the school's highest honors, a fashion executive in the audience took immediate notice. The conversation that followed led to the creation of a partnership based on two very simple concepts: a love for fashion and a commitment to quality.
Two years later, Marc Jacobs ventured out and designed his first clothing collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label. In 1995, he launched his first full collection of men's ready-to-wear clothing. 2000 saw the launch of the first Marc Jacobs handbag collection.
In 2001, Marc Jacobs and his business partner, Robert Duffy, introduced their secondary collection, Marc by Marc Jacobs. It was established on the basis of providing a collection of comparatively affordable, edgy, and retro-inspired mass-market pieces. Since then, the collection has continued to grow exponentially to include Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes, Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags, Marc by Marc Jacobs jewelry, Marc by Marc Jacobs eyewear, Marc by Marc Jacobs hair accessories, and Marc by Marc Jacobs watches.
Each season, the Marc by Marc Jacobs collections are created with the aim of providing quality shoes, handbags, accessories, eyewear and watches with high fashion designs incorporating the signature quirkiness and unique sense of style that Marc by Marc Jacobs has come to be known for.

I usually carry a bag a few times before I write a review but this time I just couldn't wait. This bag is fabulous. It is simple, well-designed and keeps it's shape -- I love the pleating at the bottom and the shape the bag has when the clip is fastened. However, I do not like the bag with the longer shoulder strap or with the clip unfastened. The strap seems a little too thin for such a large bag, but I don't carry bags crossbody anyway so for me it is a moot point. The pebbled leather is scrumptious, and I hope it holds up like the leathers of the older MbMJ bags. I got the bag in Reef Blue, and the color is great for spring, but it is saturated enough that the bag can be carried through the fall season. Be aware: the Reef Blue in the Zappos picture looks a little washed out (on my monitor). I had to look at the bag on another website to get an accurate depiction of the color.

I have been carrying this bag for almost a week now in the color Faded Aluminum (soft dark gray). This huge bag is gorgeous and VERY sturdy - the rolled handles are TOUGH. It's made of a very soft pebbled leather and slouches nicely. The handles make the bag very versatile (has magnetic closure to expand it and has the ability to clip together to make it smaller). I like that it's very roomy (almost looks like a slouchy suitcase) and can hold a lot. The bag itself is 3 lbs, which at first I thought was way too heavy, but the whole bag is pure leather and the hardware is a little heavy (brass). I use this bag for everyday, work, school, going out, anything. At the heaviest, my bag weighs 7 lbs. But the comfort of the bag makes carrying this easy. Price is a bit hefty, but I can assure you that this bag will last for a long time to come. You pay for what you get, and this bag, with its size, and quality, is very much worth the price.

Beautiful bag, the leather is good quality, the color is unique. I couldn't find this color in store anywhere so I checked Zappos and there it was! My item arrived next day! I love Zappos. I won't shop online anywhere else for bags and shoes. Just ordered another Marc by Marc Jacobs bag today!

I love this bag! It's a really sturdy bag, and the handles are sturdy too. It's made of a really nice, pebbled leather. I bought the dandelion color and it's not as bright yellow as it shows on my screen, but it is exactly the color of a dandelion. Note, the bag is huge. It's a very tall bag, and very wide. Almost tote-like. I almost returned it it's so big, which makes it slightly heavier than other bags. But I love the style and the color so I'm keeping it.
